About the Tentacled Snake
A fully aquatic snake with two short tentacles on its snout, unique among snakes. The tentacles are touch-sensitive and help it detect fish in murky water. Research showed it can startle fish so that they flee straight toward its mouth. It hunts by hanging motionless underwater in a J shape. Rear-fanged with mild venom that is harmless to people. Gives birth to live young.
