Each species page lists the family, whether the snake is venomous, mildly venomous, or non-venomous, its maximum length, where it lives, its preferred habitat and prey, and a danger level for people: venomous species are rated mainly on venom, large constrictors on their documented record of serious or fatal attacks (the reticulated and African rock pythons have killed people), and small harmless snakes are rated None. Species are grouped into the families below.
