About the Western Hognose
Famous for their dramatic death-feigning behavior — they roll onto their back, tongue out, and emit a foul smell. Also called puff adders for their ability to flatten their neck like a cobra. Their upturned snout is used for digging in sand. Rear-fanged with mild venom that poses no serious threat to humans. They rarely bite, preferring bluff displays. Popular pet snakes.
