About the Barbados Threadsnake

Possibly the smallest known snake species, with adults only about 10 cm long, small enough to rest on a coin. Described in 2008 by biologist Blair Hedges, who named it after his wife Carla Ann Hass. Found only in remnant forest on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Females lay a single large egg, and the hatchling is about half the length of its mother. It lives in soil and leaf litter.
