About the Ball Python

The most popular pet snake in the world. Named for their defensive habit of coiling into a tight ball when threatened. Can live 30+ years in captivity (record is 47 years). Have hundreds of known genetic color morphs bred in captivity. In the wild, they are nocturnal and spend most of their time in termite mounds or burrows. African royalty historically wore live ball pythons as jewelry.
