Rubber Boa

About the Rubber Boa

A small, smooth-scaled boa that looks and feels like rubber. It is one of the most cold-tolerant boas, ranging north into British Columbia. Its blunt tail looks like a second head. When raiding nests of baby mice it uses its tail as a decoy to absorb bites from the mother. Shy and burrowing, it is active mostly at dusk and on cool nights. Very docile when handled.
