About the Rosy Boa

A small, slow-moving boa of rocky deserts. Its color varies by region, with stripes of orange, rust, or brown on a gray background. When threatened it rolls into a ball with its head hidden in the center. It is active mainly at dusk and night. Gentle and hardy, it is a popular pet. One of the few boas native to the United States.
