About the Rainbow Boa
Named for the iridescent sheen on their scales that creates rainbow colors in light. This effect comes from microscopic ridges on the scales that refract light. Primarily nocturnal. Excellent swimmers and climbers. Give birth to live young. Their habitat ranges from the Amazon basin to Central America. Popular in the pet trade due to their manageable size and stunning appearance.
