About the Pygmy Rattlesnake

One of the smallest rattlesnakes. Its tiny rattle produces a thin buzz that sounds like an insect and can be heard only from close by. Common in Florida and the coastal plain of the southeastern US. Its bite is painful and causes swelling, but deaths are extremely rare. Young pygmy rattlesnakes wiggle their yellow tail tips to lure frogs and lizards within striking range.
