About the Malayan Pit Viper
Responsible for a significant number of snakebites in Southeast Asia. They lie motionless in leaf litter, relying on camouflage, and are often stepped on. Their venom causes severe tissue necrosis, sometimes requiring amputation. Despite their danger, they are sluggish and rarely move even when approached. Heat-sensing pits between their eyes allow them to hunt in total darkness.
