About the Fer-de-lance
The most dangerous snake in Central and South America, responsible for more deaths than any other New World snake. Their Latin name Bothrops asper means pit of the rough. Excellent camouflage in leaf litter. They are surprisingly agile despite their heavy build. Babies climb trees but adults are terrestrial. Can strike faster than the blink of an eye.
