About the Red-bellied Black Snake

One of the most commonly encountered venomous snakes in urban Australia. Despite this, there are no confirmed human deaths from this species. They actively hunt and eat other snakes, including smaller venomous species. Their bright red belly is a warning coloration. Give birth to live young — up to 40 at once. Often mistaken for the deadly Eastern Brown Snake.
