About the Olive Sea Snake

A large sea snake of coral reefs off northern Australia and New Guinea. It is often curious and may approach divers. It can sense light with photoreceptors in its tail, which may help it keep its tail hidden while sheltering. Like other true sea snakes it gives birth to live young at sea and never comes ashore. Its venom is potent, but bites are rare.
