About the Monocled Cobra

Named for the single O-shaped marking on the back of its hood, unlike the spectacle pattern of the Indian cobra. Widespread from eastern India to Vietnam, often near water and farmland. It causes a large number of bites in Thailand and neighboring countries. Its venom is strongly neurotoxic. Some populations can spit venom. Often seen in snake shows in Southeast Asia.
