About the Malayan Krait

A nocturnal krait banded in black and white, found from Thailand to Indonesia. Its venom is highly neurotoxic and bites carry a high fatality rate without treatment. Many bites happen at night to people sleeping on the floor, since the bite may cause little pain at first. It feeds mainly on other snakes. Also called the blue krait.
