About the Japanese Rat Snake
The largest snake on the main islands of Japan, called aodaisho in Japanese. Often found near houses and farms, where it hunts rodents. In Japanese folklore it was seen as a guardian of homes and a bringer of good luck. A population of white albino rat snakes in Iwakuni has been designated a national natural monument. An excellent climber that raids bird nests.
