About the Dugite
A brown snake of southwestern Western Australia, common even in the suburbs of Perth. It belongs to the same genus as the Eastern Brown Snake and has potent venom that disrupts blood clotting. Color ranges from olive to brown, often with scattered dark scales. Fast and alert, it usually flees but will defend itself if cornered. It is common on the sandy coastal plain around Perth.
