About the Death Adder
Not actually an adder — they are elapids related to cobras. They use the tip of their tail as a worm-like lure to attract prey, the only snake known to do this. Have the fastest strike of any snake in the world. Lie buried in leaf litter with only their tail lure visible. Before antivenom, about 50% of bites were fatal. Despite the name, they are not aggressive.
