About the Chinese Cobra

A common cobra of southern China and Taiwan, often found around rice fields and villages. Its hood shows a spectacle-like marking. It is responsible for many snakebites in Taiwan and southern China. Its venom contains both neurotoxins and tissue-damaging cytotoxins. It sometimes spits venom when cornered. Also called the Taiwan cobra.
