About the Banded Krait

A striking krait with bold black and yellow bands and a triangular body in cross section. Active at night and sluggish by day, often hiding its head under its coils when disturbed. It feeds mainly on other snakes. Its venom is strongly neurotoxic, but it is reluctant to bite and causes fewer bites than the common krait. Found from eastern India to southern China and Indonesia.
